Refusing Noel Maguire repatriation is a grave injustice.
By turning him down on very dubious grounds the Irish Ministry of Justice are adding insult to injury.
Since January this year Dermot Ahern has
repatriated six non-nationals to their country of origin (Britain,Poland and
Romania). These prisoners are now where they can be visited by their loved ones.
Noel Maguire is being deprived of his human rights by his own government. If he was released tomorrow he'd be deported to the 26 Counties because he holds an Irish passport. Refusing him just confirms he's being victimised.

I am disgusted with the attitude of Dermot Ahern and the Irish Government, How can they take the veiw they have, It is time they done the right thing and reunited this man with his children, I sent a letter to my selected representative asking him to intervene.

The Free State Minister of Justice, Equality and Law Reform uses the same wording as his predecessors when writing to Noel Maguire informing him of his unsuccessful application for repatriation.
There is a kind of bi-partisan agreement between all the Dail political parties to ensure full agreement between themselves that 'not an inch' will be given when deciding the fate of imprisoned Irish
republicans - especially those imprisoned abroad.
'Justice, Equality and Law Reform' is a misnomer - if equality was a factor then Noel Maguire would have been repatriated with his comrades two years ago. Treachery no no bounds.

The Irish Ministry of Justice has reached a new low by basing their refusal to repatriate Noel Maguire on
a lie.
It's nonsensical to state he has closer
ties to the United Kingdom than to an Irish jurisdiction when everyone knows he has a wife and two children living in County Carlow - a stones-throw from Portlaoise Prison.
Noel has been attacked and hospitalised while in prison. Does he have to be found dead in his cell before he makes it back to Ireland?
